      Tinaroo Dam is Queensland's barramundi heaven. Fish up to 37.5kg's are caught here.

BarraJack Encounters can arrange fishing trips into Weipa on Cape York Peninsula.  Good numbers of all northern Australian Tropical species are caught including fingermark, threadfin salmon, mangrove jack and barramundi.

Flights into Weipa are by jet aircraft and leave and return to Cairns on a daily basis.

Accommodation is available in a Resort, Motel, Self-contained units or the Caravan Park/Camping grounds.

Bookings are required well in advance to secure accommodation and flights.  Trips are best booked for seven days of fishing and six nights accommodation.
TINAROO DAM ~ BARRAMUNDI HEAVEN

Tinaroo Dam is a large impoundment that is being stocked with hundreds of thousands of barramundi and sooty grunter.  Anglers have the opportunity to catch world class barramundi to 40kgs.  During the 2000 yearly fishing competition held on the Dam, the average weight of fish caught was 11kgs, the largest being 37.5kgs.  Mangrove Jack are also being stocked and these are expected to reach 10kgs

BarraJack Encounters is one of a very few fishing charter business’s with a required Department of Natural Resources Permit to operate on Tinaroo Dam.

Anglers require a Fishing Permit to fish Tinaroo  (which can be issued by BarraJack Encounters).

Fishing on Tinaroo Dam slows during the winter months.
